I’m Hans. I’m currently a UX Researcher and Designer at SAP. Previously at UBC Chapman Learning Commons and HungryPanda.
Why UX?
Before UX, I was a Marketing Operations Specialist at HungryPanda, where I managed end-to-end in-app marketing campaigns for over 100 restaurant partners. Additionally, I was part of the market expansion team responsible for launching services in the Greater Seattle area.
It was during this time that I experienced a pivotal “aha moment.” Collaborating across departments to tailor our app to meet local user preferences opened my eyes to the importance of individual user behaviors over general market trends. It illuminated the path towards crafting customer/user-centric digital experiences instead of dark patterns solely for conversion. This shift not only enhanced customer satisfaction but also yielded long-term conversion gains. These experiences have distilled my passion for researching and designing digital interfaces that are efficient and intuitive, minimize user friction, and align with business objectives.
For me, user experience and business metrics are not choices we have to make between one or the other. There's an intersection where we can harmonize user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility.
